CogniMary Label: How to Read Every Line Before You Buy

The CogniMary label is a Supplement Facts panel with four set amounts, one 635 mg blend and a short list of other ingredients. Most of it can be checked with simple sums. One line does not add up, and one blend hides its split. This page shows how to read the label in six steps, using only what is printed on it.

Quick answer

The CogniMary label lists a serving of 2 capsules, 30 servings, four nutrients with amounts and an 11-ingredient blend of 635 mg with no split. Folate is the one line that fails a simple check. The warnings rule out use in pregnancy or while nursing.

Key facts

  • Serving: 2 capsules. Servings per container: 30. Capsules per bottle: 60.
  • Four set amounts: folate, vitamin B12, magnesium and chromium.
  • One blend of 635 mg holds 11 ingredients, and no single amount is printed.
  • Folate prints 600 µg DFE from 320 µg folic acid, but the conversion gives 544 µg DFE.
  • The label says not to use CogniMary if you are pregnant or nursing.
  • Lot reference COG-26/GO-2760. A certificate was not supplied to this site.

What is printed on the CogniMary label?

Start with the frame. The panel is headed Supplement Facts. It gives a serving size of 2 capsules and 30 servings per container. A 60-capsule bottle therefore lasts 30 days at the label dose.

Below that sit four lines with amounts and a percent Daily Value, then one blend line with a total weight and no percent. After that comes the Other Ingredients line. The directions and warnings are on the side of the bottle, and the distributor named on the bottle is Amplify Distribution, LLC.

This site copies the panel as text, so you can search it and read it aloud. See the full transcription if you want every word.

What do the percent Daily Values on the CogniMary label mean?

A percent Daily Value compares an amount with a reference intake for adults. It is not a dose that does anything. The table shows each reference value and the sum behind the percentage.

How each percent Daily Value on the CogniMary label is built.
NutrientPer servingReference valuePrinted %
Folate600 µg DFE400 µg DFE150%
Vitamin B12240 µg2.4 µg10,000%
Magnesium250 mg420 mg60%
Chromium120 µg35 µg343%

The B12 figure looks dramatic, but it is only 240 divided by 2.4, which is 100 times the reference. That is why the percent reads 10,000. A large percent on a label shows how the sum was done. It does not show benefit.

Which CogniMary label line does not add up?

Folate. The panel says 600 µg DFE, and in brackets it says "as 320µg folic acid". DFE means dietary folate equivalents. For folic acid the conversion is 1.7 times the amount.

So 320 µg of folic acid works out to 544 µg DFE, not 600. To reach 600 µg DFE you would need about 353 µg of folic acid. The gap is 56 µg DFE, about 10%.

We do not know which printed number is the error, and we will not guess. Neither figure is near the 1,000 µg upper level for folic acid in adults, so this is a question of accuracy, not safety. It is still a fair question to put to the seller.

What does the CogniMary label hide inside the 635 mg blend?

The blend is named WMG-NVT Exclusive Blend. It holds eleven ingredients in this order: cinnamon, ginkgo, bilberry, bacopa, green tea, berberine, L-theanine, alpha lipoic acid, GPC choline, lutein and zeaxanthin. The label gives the total, 635 mg, and nothing else.

The rules do give one clue. Blend ingredients must be listed from heaviest to lightest. So the ingredient in position k cannot weigh more than 635 divided by k milligrams. The first can weigh at most 635 mg, the second at most 317.5 mg and the fourth at most 158.8 mg. The last, position 11, can weigh at most about 57.7 mg.

These are ceilings, not amounts. The 635 mg ceiling page sets them against the doses used in research.

What spelling slips appear on the CogniMary label?

The panel prints "Alpa Lipoic Acid", with one missing letter. It also gives the bilberry botanical name as Vaccinium cyanococcus, which is the name used for blueberries, not for bilberry. This site keeps the printed spelling, because a transcription that quietly fixes its source is not a transcription.

Small slips like these do not change what is in the capsule. They do tell you how closely the label was proofread. Read the rest of the panel with the same care.

What do the CogniMary label warnings and lot numbers tell you?

The side panel is plain. It says: keep out of reach of children, do not use if you are pregnant or nursing, consult your health care provider before use, do not use if the safety seal is broken, and store in a cool, dry place. The pregnancy line is a prohibition, not a hint.

The lot reference supplied to this site is COG-26/GO-2760, and the certificate reference is COG-2760-26-GO. A certificate document was not supplied, so the numbers alone prove nothing. Match the lot on your bottle, where it is printed, to the reference. Our batch and lot page explains the check.

Frequently asked questions

What is on the CogniMary label?

A Supplement Facts panel with a 2-capsule serving, 30 servings, four set amounts, an 11-ingredient blend of 635 mg and an Other Ingredients line. Directions and warnings are on the side.

Does the CogniMary label say how much of each blend ingredient is inside?

No. It prints only the 635 mg total. The ingredients are listed heaviest first, which sets a ceiling on each one but not an amount.

Why does the folate line not add up?

Folic acid counts as 1.7 times its weight in DFE. 320 µg gives 544 µg DFE, but the panel prints 600 µg DFE. It is not clear which number is wrong.

Does the CogniMary label list allergens?

The Other Ingredients line names BSE-free gelatin, rice flour, silicon dioxide and magnesium stearate. An allergen statement was not published to this site, so ask before use if you have an allergy.

Is the CogniMary label FDA approved?

No. Supplement labels are not approved by the FDA, and no supplement is FDA approved.

Where is the lot number on the CogniMary label?

Look for it on the bottle, often on the base with the best-before date when the bottle shows it. The reference supplied to this site is COG-26/GO-2760.

Our view

The CogniMary label is better than many in its category. It prints a serving, a count and four real amounts, and you can check most of them with a pencil. The weak points are the 635 mg blend with no split and the folate line that does not match its own conversion.

Read the label first and the adverts second. If a claim in an advert is not on the panel, treat it as unproven. If you take medicine or are pregnant or nursing, speak to a doctor before you start.

Medical note

CogniMary is a dietary supplement. Supplements are not FDA approved. If memory changes are new or getting worse, see a doctor first. If you take medicines, ask a doctor or pharmacist before you start.
